What exactly is article marketing?

Article marketing is simply the process of writing short, targeted articles and publishing them on the web. Our article submissions allow you to focus on whatever topic you wish, such as car insurance for teens, business use of a personal vehicle, rental car coverage issues, common exclusions in the PAP, named non-owner coverage, etc.

By writing highly informative articles that have unique content, about a subject that is targeted (but not SO targeted that nobody would actually search the internet for it), and including keywords and phrases that would be used to search for that topic, you can help drive traffic to your website and gain valuable links to your agency website which increase your search engine ranking.

How does article marketing benefit my agency website?

  • Direct inbound links drive traffic to your website
When publishing an article on our website, you are able to include a resource section where you can tell who you are, what qualifications you may have, as well as a link back to your agency web site. Our website is highly optimized to rank well in the search engine results placement (SERP's), so more traffic is driven to your agency website through our marketing efforts which include both organic search optimization and paid advertising.
  • Your insurance agency website ranks higher in search engines
Links to your website are essentially "votes" for your site. Get more "votes" and your site is deemed to have more importance in search engine ranking algorithms. There are literally hundreds of factors that influence where your site ranks in any given search. Links to your site from a topically-relevant website, such as ours, are weighted more than links from unrelated sites. This can result in higher placement in search engine results.
  • Geo-targeted anchor text links can boost your search rankings
Anchor text is simply the text string that makes up the clickable link in your resource section. In this link phrase: We Sell Affordable Car Insurance, the anchor text is "Car Insurance". Search engines use the anchor text as a sort of summary of what the linked site is about.

Geo-targeting is simply the process of including a specific geographic area in your anchor text. In this link phrase: We Sell Affordable Los Angeles Car Insurance, we have told the search engines that your agency sells car insurance in Los Angeles (search engines also look at the text SURROUNDING the anchor text!). So when someone searches for "Los Angeles Car Insurance" or "Los Angeles Car Insurance Agent", the search engines know your site has an inbound link with both "car insurance" and "Los Angeles". As an added benefit, most search engines know that "car" and "auto" are interchangeable, so a search for "auto insurance" will also gather search results for "car insurance".

What should I write about?

That's the beauty of article marketing! It's up to you! Obviously our website is about auto insurance in the state of California. Articles don't have to relate specifically to California at all. They don't even necessarily have to be about auto insurance. Here are some general ideas to give you an idea of the types of articles that are possible:

  • Auto insurance and wildfires - am I covered? (writing about current events and how they pertain to coverage is a great way to gain traffic)
  • Does my homeowners policy cover my personal property when in my car?
  • I hit someone's cow in the road... who pays to fix my car?
  • Should I buy rental car coverage offered by the rental company? My credit card says it's covered.
  • Is my car covered when I drive into Mexico?
  • What's an SR-22? How does it impact my car insurance?
  • My son is in college but doesn't have a car. Do I need to keep him on my policy?
  • My daughter lives with two roommates at college and can drive their vehicles. Is she covered on my policy?
  • My car was hit by another vehicle and the other driver's insurance company is offering to pay me to sign some kind of liability waiver. Should I?
  • I don't have any assets, why do I need more than the state mandated liability limits?
  • What's Uninsured Motorist coverage and why do I need it?

Keep in mind that you want to write about realistic questions consumers might have about car insurance. Explain coverages in layman's terms and use practical scenarios to help reader's visualize your explanations. If you answer their question and present the information in a conversational manner, there's a good chance they'll click on your agency website link and you just gained a new client!
